As ratified by the People’s Bank of China, 7 precious metal commemorative coin programs are to be issued in 2009. The 7 programs consist of 43 varieties, including 23 in gold and 20 in silver.
The 7 programs include:
2009 panda gold and silver commemorative coins (including the panda gold and silver commemorative coins inscribed with words for the foundation of Agricultural Bank of China Co., ltd), World Expo Shanghai 2010 gold and silver commemorative coins (series I), gold and silver commemorative coins for the 16th Asian Games (series I), Chinese classical novels series—Outlaws of the Marsh colored gold and silver commemorative coins (series I), gold and silver commemorative coins for the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, silver commemorative coin of Beijing International Coin Exposition 2009, 2010 Chinese Geng Yin Year (Year of the Tiger) gold and silver commemorative coins. Among the above programs, 2009 panda gold and silver commemorative coins have been issued on November, 2008.
The programming of precious metal commemorative coins in 2009 will be carried out with the principle of “Control the total amount and emphasizing the connotation market”, the mainline of reflecting important commemorative events and the core of the gold and silver commemorative coins for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, besides which the theme of Chinese traditional culture and sports will also be involved.
