The People’s Bank of China is to issue a silver panda commemorative coin inscribed with words for the successful inauguration of ChiNext on December 30, 2009. The coin is the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

I. Design of the coin

i. obverse design

The obverse of the coin depicts the the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (The Temple of Heaven), the title of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese characters of “IN COMMEMORATION OF SUCCESSFUL INAUGURATION OF CHINEXT” and the year date.

ii. reverse design

  The reverse of the coin features two pandas in the center, letters of “1oz Ag .999” and English version of “IN COMMEMORATION OF SUCCESSFUL INAUGURATION OF CHINEXT” and the face value.

II. Specification and mintage of the coins

The silver commemorative coin is bullion in quality, round-shaped, 40mm in diameter, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 30,000 pieces.

III. The silver commemorative coins is minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
