Announcement of the People’s Bank of China

The People’s Bank of China is to issue a series of gold and silver commemorative coins for the 30th anniversary of the founding of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on July 28, 2010. This series consists of a gold coin and a silver coin, both of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.
I. Design of the coins
i. Obverse design
The gold and silver coins bear the common obverse of the National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China with the bougainvillea pattern around it, the title of PRC and the year date.
ii. Reverse design
The reverse of 1/4 oz gold coin features a pioneering bull in the foreground, with the background of architectures as well as light beam and blooming fireworks pattern; the words of “The 30th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone” in Chinese and the face value.
The reverse of 1 oz silver coin depicts the human head silhouette with the ornaments of abstract symbols, the sculpture named “Break-through”, the words of “30th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone” in Chinese and the face value.
II. Specifications and mintage of the coins
i. 1/4 oz round gold coin is proof in quality, 22 mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1/4 troy ounce of pure gold. The total mintage is 20000 pieces.
ii. 1 oz round silver coin is proof in quality, 40 mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 30000 pieces.
II. This series of coins is minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
